Well, I finally finished it. The background isn't much, but it'll do for me. I'm not much of a background person, anyway! Her name is Kachina, meaning "spirit dancer."
Personality: Kachina is a sweet mare, and is always ready to have a good time. There is rarely an ill thought in her mind, and she can usually be seen around the foals. This mare's name means 'Spirit Dancer' and it is this that she is best known for. Dancing is her passion, and she can light up the darkness whenever she comes around.
History: Born to a neighboring herd to the Cimarron, Kachina hasn't spent her entire life with Spirit's herd. When she was born, she would dance as if she were dancing with spirits - hence how her name came about. When she came of age (three years), the lead stallion exchanged Kachina for another mare (a more beautiful filly) to another herd. The new herd she was a part of had a cruel leader. It was not to be her home for long, though. By the age of 4, Kachina's newest herd was attacked by a vicious pack of wolves. These wolves killed off a large number of the herd members, but Kachina escaped to the canyons. After wandering on her own for a week, she happened upon the Cimarron herd. When she approached this herd, they welcomed her with open arms (so to speak). As the years went by, Kachina grew a great asset to the herd, providing care for the foals and entertainment to the grown horses. She currently resides with the herd.

Just for clarification, what horse color is she? I assume you are referring to the brown horse with silver mane and tail in the screenshot. I love the drawing, but the body seems a little light. Is that just a trick of the lighting in this piece of art?
Anyways, if you were going for the dark brown mare in the screenshot, she is most likely a chocolate palomino, an extreme sooty palomino, a flaxen liver chestnut, or a silver dapple. You need to make sure the colors in your picture match the colors of the mare in the screenshot.
If I am not referring to the character you based Kachina off of, please correct me.

Yeah, I noticed she was a bit light, but she is the horse you are referring to. A chocolate palomino, I assume. I can make it darker, if you want, but I made it slightly lighter because she's in an autumny field and I wanted a bit of lighter gold colors to accentuate her surroundings. But if you wish, I can make it darker. I was just going for a sunlit appearance on her.

Arg! I just replied to this. *sigh* It was long too. I think Boribaby is trying to log onto the club. :B
Anyways, personally, I think it could be a bit darker. Even in a bright environment like that she would look like a dark palomino, rather than a graying one. (Again, personal opinion). I suggest leaving the lights the color they are, but moving the shade of the shadows up to the middle tone, and making a darker shade for the shadows.
Am I making any sense?
I love the mane and tail. Don't change those an iota. I'm just suggesting darkening and deepening the colors of her body. That's all. Don't feel rushed though, you have two months!
I think going with chocolate palomino is great (though I originally thought silver dapple when I saw her. How funny is it that the character I noticed and was thinking about using was used in the very first entry! ). I actually love the picture, and I'm thinking about drawing you something just for being the first entry. Even if I don't, I'm certainly going to look through your gallery. (as myself of course, not the club)

I see your point, he he he. And yes! You are making perfect sense! I do hope you enjoy my gallery as yourself.

I went ahead and darkened it! Tell me if it fits the mare better or not. Thanks for your help!

I did check it out. I wish you had more drawings! From what you've uploaded so far, you'll be a welcome addition to the equine artist pool here on deviantart. Can't wait to see more!

Aww, thanks! Yes, I wish I had more, too....I get so busy with school and work *faints* and I'm such a perfectionist sometimes that I can't get anything out for a while!
